Caffeine Chemistry Coffee @ Chime Heritage, Penang.

Hello readers! So after weeks of relaxation (slacking), I've recently started working as a freelance video editor at Colomono, finally applying what I've studied in college to work ohyeahhhh. Before I started working, I managed to try out Caffeine Chemistry Coffee with one of my friends, Virginia before she went back to Ipoh and thanks to her for the introduction :)

The number of seats is limited downstairs so you might want to head upstairs, outdoor seatings are available as well.

A very simple yet comfy environment.

Menu (without additional charges).

The food is quite limited when we visited, there were only cakes, sandwiches, a breakfast set and salads (new menu has been added currently). So we ordered their only two types of sandwiches:

My Cajun Chicken sandwich, mad love for their mashed potatoes! It wasn't seasoned heavily so the taste wasn't as tasty as KFC's but I supposed it was healthier this way, not to mention they were really soft and warm when served! As for the sandwich itself, I like how they provide the meat generously, I'd say the taste can still be improved, the cashier said it's a spicy type but the taste was kinda bland for me, and the bread used (ciabatta) was rather hard for us to cut or even chew, maybe the bread is made that way but I'd personally prefer croissant or other breads that are softer, that'd make the eating easier.

Virginia's Pesto Chicken- If compared to my cajun chicken, I'd say the pesto chicken has stronger flavor of spices and more appealing in my opinion. She had the same likes and dislikes as I do, we both like the mashed potatoes but not so much on the bread, overall it's still good as the price is as affordable as RM12 nett! That's all for now, till then, see ya!

Route 9 @ Bishop Street, Penang.

Hello everybodeh! Just ended my finals few days back and I'm officially done with my diploma course! Fingers crossed for my cgpa and can't wait for my convo which will probably be held in October, so excited to wear the graduation robe! Should probably get a job soon but that can wait for awhile, relaxation is all I need at this moment. Well, food is one of many ways to get myself relaxed, so recently Angela, Kerli and I (Colomono flowers) have paid a visit to a new restaurant, Route 9 located right beside Goh Kaki. It will be officially launched in August but they're already open for test run purpose.

We sat far away from the entrance and not long after it was already crowded with people!
They have a wide range of menu from chicken, fish, spaghetti, lamb and beef! And they're all very affordable without additional charges, and of course what caught my attention is their portion, so in love with their portion!

Besides, there are two types of set to be choose from:
RM2 set: peach tea/ lemon tea + dessert (ice cream)
RM6 set: mushroom soup + peach tea/ lemon tea + dessert (ice cream) and we all went for the RM2 set.

Kerli's Route 9 Chicken Chop. I like how they separate the gravy and the chicken so that the chicken that's supposed to be crunchy wouldn't get soggy. And unlike other restaurants that use mushroom sauce or brown sauce, here it tasted more like a curry based gravy which was appetizing (Angela abandoned her cheesy sauce for this).

Angela's Chicken with Cheesy Sauce, also comes with butter rice. The cheesy sauce tasted absolutely delicious! Tho I'm not a fan of chicken breast but it mixed really well with the sauce, thumbs up for it I couldn't stop mixing it with my mashed potatoes. And I had the most of it since Angela prefer another sauce.

My Milky Oat Chicken. It's basically deep fried chicken drizzled with milky sauce and honey, so the whole thing was crispy and sweet! I love sweet stuff like a lot so it tasted like the chicken version of roti bom/ roti susu to me, recommended to those who're into sweet stuff!

We got a complimentary Chicken Skewer from the boss! Not sure why but thank you! The meat is tender and very soft to be chewed. Still, I think they can improve on the taste cause it tasted like satay to me. One more thing to be improved on is their dessert as they only have ice cream for now, hoping they can add more dessert choice onto the menu. Other than that, the overall is still good, the cleanliness, display, taste are up to standard.

WIll be blogging about the famous Nitrogen Coconut ice cream from The Safe Room on my next post, stay tuned!

Santorini Cafe at Burma Road, Penang.

Holla I'm back! Just realized my last post was on 31st of May lol so now I'm going to blog about a waaaaaay overdue post before my blog turns dusty. Note that the "waaaaaay" is VERY long because it took place around... more than 1 month ago (nearly 2)! With study as my priority there just wasn't enough time for me to actually chill in front of my laptop blogging when there were tons of assignments to be finished, WERE. Now that I've handed in my last assignment which required APA citation blabla, there's finally time!

So today I'll be introducing Santorini Cafe located in Burma Road (somewhere around New World Park) which I visited with Angela and Ker Li. They serve a wide range of food with affordable prices from Western, Chinese, Italian and also desserts and soups! The choices are so many that you'd struggle not knowing what to choose. Also, the portion is really BIG. Despite the MANY MANY choices that I've mentioned, we didn't manage to take a peek of the menu as we were given the dinner set menu (not sure why) with much lesser choice to choose from.

The parking space is limited tho only 4-6 spaces available outside the shop. Still, you can choose to park in New World Park or Chew Tian Yang carpark where they will refund RM1 for you.

Mushroom soup as starter. Not bad but not very impressive as well, just how an average mushroom soup tastes like.

Oat Chicken Chop for me. Look how huge the chicken is! Love at first sight at the portion, so big that I had to give some to my friends. The side salad and sauce are pretty average, chicken is absolutely crunchy and tender! You can also order Oat Fish Chop if you don't fancy chicken, which Ker Li said it's quite good.

Angela's Chicken Foot Long Sausages. She, being a big eater also compliments on the portion. She was quite full afterwards which is so rare that it shocked me hahaha

Vanilla ice cream for dessert, the only food that was served in a really, really small portion. It would be better if the scoop is bigger.

One of the many selfies that we took after meal.

It was a wonderful time spent with them, with great portion of food and affordable prices. Do pay a visit if you crave for big food and low price!

Till then, tata

El Mondo Restaurant at E-Gate, Penang.

Valentine's is just around the corner like literally! If you have no idea where to bring your love ones or happened to forgot to make a reservation, this might be just the place! El Mondo serves not only Italian but also Western cuisine, and not to mention dessert too! Valentine's menu is at the end of this post. According to the very friendly lady boss, all the food are freshly made to order by a Malay chef specializes in Italian cuisine who resigned from Bella Italia.
It is located right beside PappaRich.

Went there with my mom and her friend for dinner and below are our orders:
For appetizer, we ordered Antipasto Misto. "Chef selection of little appetizers on a plate. Smoked salmon, rosette marinated baby octopus, pesto chicken, battered prawn, sausage capsicum roll & potato salad".

My favourite was their potato salad as it is not overwhelmed by mayonnaise sauce and it has a hint of sourness probably from lemon, it opened up my appetite in an instant. The second would be smoked salmon, they were fresh and didn't contain fishy smells, I finished all of them because mom and her friend don't like raw food, I like it even it's just a simple dish with dried basil sprinkles. The baby octopus, battered prawns and pesto chicken tasted rather normal, nothing that surprised me. As for the sausage capsicum roll, initally I thought it's either ham or some sort of meat cause the capsicum was really soft to a state that it didn't really require biting!

From fish and seafood category: Grigliata Mista Di Mare. "Mix grill seafood of prawn, slipper lobster, calamari, fish mussel & scallop with garlic butter sauce and salad". I've always thought that garlic butter is very oily and greasy but not this one! All the seafood have absorbed the aromatic flavour of garlic butter and they tasted superb, didn't contain fishy smells as well. Their prawns are washed throughout cleanly, unlike other places that have black stains in it, even their prawn heads are clean! My mom loved it even though she's not a fan of seafood. There was mashed potatoes underneath the purple lettuce, which matched perfectly well with garlic butter! The whole thing was great, even better than the first order.

Mushroom soup which was highly recommended by the lady boss, I'd say I'm glad we ordered it, it was cooked with three types of mushroom crushed together, the amount of mushrooms used was generous as the soup was concentrated, it has replaced the position of mushroom soup in Mizi Bistro and became the best in my heart, I think they can make it even better by providing garlic bread.

My Spaghetti Con Frutti Di Mare. "Spaghetti with mixed seafood, garlic and chilli". Was planning to order carbonara or any creamy sauce but I don't think it's available here as I've re-read the options several times. This was not a bad choice though, again the seafood was fresh and even it was only stirred fry with olive oil and chilli, it still tasted good. After meal, the lady boss recommended us to try out their tiramisu but we were too full to consume any more food. I'll definitely try out their pizza next time!

You can also visit them during lunch hour and enjoy their value set lunch ranging from RM12.90 onwards. Again, the friendly lady boss said they take their quality of food seriously and they will not simply cook just because you order lunch set, I like how they put so much effort in making sure that the food is well served and the customers are happy, it's a restaurant with quantity and quality! In overall, the environment is nice, food is great and definitely worth the price, they only have 10% service charge and NO GOV TAX, very very friendly lady boss, I will be back again!

Took this menu directly from the lady boss's phone because the printed ones haven't arrive. Do take note that they DO NOT take reservations, only on first come first serve basis. Couples who face difficulties in choosing a place or failed to make any reservations can consider coming here!

Morganfield's at Queensbay Mall, Penang.

It was actually a last minute plan to have our lunch here BUT I was really excited about it cause I've been longing to try their ribs! And now that they have opened a new branch at Queensbay there's no need for a 45 mins trip to Paragon, how convenient for me :D
It used to be Station One and somehow I'm quite glad that Morganfield's took over the place lol
As you can see on their signboard *Home of Sticky Bones*, how can you not try out their sticky bones aka ribs!

My mom ordered Smokin' Duck Salad for herself.
(Smoked duck on a bed of mixed salad, cucumber, tomatoes, sesame seeds, spring oninos, red chillies, hard-boiled egg and century egg served with soy vinaigrette).
The smoked duck was so delicious that it tastes like bacon! The sauce given tastes like vinegar which matches well with the salad, even a anti-vege eater like me took a few bite of it.

Oh did I mention we went with one of mum's friend? Now that I have, he ordered Hickory BBQ Spare Ribs which comes with coleslaw and fries. He likes how he can easily tear the meat off the bones! I didn't have the chance to have a taste of it cause.. well it's kind of awkward for me lol but mom did try a small piece of it and she said it was OK for her and it was not as good as my ribs (which will be introduced very soon)!

Smoked Peppercorn Spare Ribs which comes with vege and mashed potatoes.
By far the nicest ribs I've ever tried! (umm this is my first time having ribs lol)
I don't really like the potatoes here cause it's too dry for me and almost tasteless, Chilli's is still the best for me. But I DO love the ribs alot! People who like spicy or black pepper must definitely have this! As I said the meat can be easily separated from the bones and I can taste the spiciness of black pepper in every bite. The sauce used in marinating the bones is very appetizing until I couldn't stop licking my fingers (yes I eat with my hand)

Now here are some goods and bads of the branch in QB:
-They have washroom in the restaurant, which is very convenient for people who eat with their hands.
-They have wifi service and television which shows Tom & Jerry just now.

-Air con is too cold, I almost shiver when I came out from the washroom.
-Some service crew are not efficient, mom's friend asked for a refill and the drink hasn't arrive for around 10 mins, I think they need to hire more staff based on the size of the restaurant.

Spade's Burger at Pekaka Square, Penang. (Moved to I-Avenue)

As I said in my previous post on Spade's Burger (check it out HERE) that I'm going to try out their mushroom burger and here I am! Going to skip through the location, intro part as you can already find it in my previous post. Remember to read it OK!
This is what I had for my dinner : Shroomception
Deep fried whole portabella, cheddar cheese, shiitake and enoki mushrooms.
To be frank it did not reach my expectation as I think the portabella could be crispier because the other mushrooms are already very soft, a crispy feeling is able to add flavour to the mouth and to show differentiation. And it is quite salty for me cause I think they use oyster sauce in it.

In overall I still prefer their beef burger as I'm more of a meat type of person and much love for their home made sauce!

Spade's Burger at Pekaka Square, Penang. (Moved to I-Avenue)

So few days ago my friends and I have finally finished our drama shooting, thank you all for the hard work you guys are great :) and by the time we finished our shooting it's quite late already and we arrived at Spade's Burger around 10pm (they close at 11), despite the time the staffs are still willing to serve us with enthusiasm even when we were the last customers! Good service guaranteed *thumbs up*

Most of the Penangites will be familiar with the venue which is at Pekaka Square/ Maxim Dim Sum,
well if you don't you can obtain the address at the end of the post.

>>>MENU<<<
check out their menu aight!

The spades card you get once you've placed your order.

Our order! The one at the bottom is mine (with fries & drink)
I remember the last time we ate is around 3 something so most of us were really huuungry (at least I was)

My Spade's Knight with beef patty, cheddar cheese, caramelised onions and bacon!
It was delish! The patty is soft and the combination tastes great together! Love the onions even though I don't really fancy onions (was having doubt before ordering), the only problem is that the bacon is not enough :(

Friend's High Piglet (Pork patty + cheddar cheese)
In his opinion, the patty is juicy, not overcooked and does not fall off easily so it's actually quite compact, can definitely satisfy your mouth and tummy!

Another friend of mine's Lollipork, she loveeesss it! It's basically a pork patty with the orangish sauce which I will talk about it later on and BBQ sauce I suppose? I took a bite of it and it's very JUICY! Even juicier than the previous pork burger I've mentioned just now, I think the charcoal bun has already absorbed the precious juice hee.
This is suitable for kids or people who don't eat much due to its portion and appearance but definitely cannot satisfy my tummy's need.

One does not simply eat their fries without dip. And this! Is their home made sauce which made me couldn't stop delivering fries into my mouth. Unlike the sauce at My Burgerlab which has a hint of spiciness, this sauce here has a hint of sourness, I think something like tartar sauce is in it, overall it was appetizing, one is not enough!

Lastly, a group photo by Spade's Burger! Thanks for the delicious burgers and great services! Would want to visit Spade's again for their mushroom burgers!

My Burger Lab in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

I FFIIINAAAAALLLEEEEHH have the chance to try out my all time wanted burger, myBurgerLab! (how I wish it's really mine) Thanks to my dear and uncle who are willing to take me there love you much much! MBL is opened by 3 guys who are passionate about awesome burgers, check out their info HERE peepo, I enjoyed reading their description :D

We reached there around 8 something and luckily the queue was not that long, they even provide cold water for those who are queueing, how considerate!

I highly recommend that you should really try out their burgers!

The menu is on the wall and everything self service here, can you see the number in red?
It's like a numbering system used in banks where you wait for your order to be done.

Look! Even vegetarians can dine in here (if they can resist the smell of meat) hehe, they are pork-free as well so the Muslims can share the same goodness together :D
Annnnd we can add RM6 to make it into a set which includes fries and soda (which is bottomless!)
There were 5 of us and we ordered:
-2 Say Cheese Chicken
-1 Swisstake
-1 Beautiful Mess 5.0
-The Hulk
Bear in mind that they only accept $CASH$!!

The kitchen staff, they manage to get the order done efficiently in a short time and still manage to maintain its great quality and taste!

The amount of customers coming in is endless like its bottomless drinks! Good food is always worth the wait :D

Some of them even came here after work I supposed (based on their clothings).

This is a much better periodic table compares to the one we learnt in Science.

A wall full of notes! Can you imagine how many customers have been here already?!
I can assure you, guarantee you that the burgers are really great! Now lets move on to the main characters of the day: AWESOME-BURGERS-THAT-WILL-MAKE-U-GAIN-WEIGHT-WILLINGLY

I'm not sure what do they use to create this sauce but it opens up my appetite, it tastes like the mixture of chilli and mayo but I think there's something else that makes me fall for it and I seriously couldn't stop dipping the fries into it!

And speaking of fries, their fries are sprinkled with seaweed and.. pepper? or some other spices I'm not sure as well (pardon me) and they do make the fries even more desirable, and they mix well with the sauce!
(now I miss both of them already)

Uncle's order. Say Cheese Chicken (sharp cheddar + grilled chicken + sauce X).
Even the simplest form of burger is delicious enough for him!

My Swisstake (Swiss cheese, Shiitake and Enoki Mushrooms, and Sauce X ). Not sure if I should pronounce it as Swiss-teik or Swiss-tah-keh. For mushroom lover you're gonna love it! They are fried together with cheese and are then placed on top of the juicy beef patty, while the yellow thin crust at the bottom tastes salty and it blends well with everything! After the first bite I knew that I will finish it at all cause (even if there's a robbery going on lol), and no offence but it's like I no longer crave for Penang's burgers (ok maybe 1 or 2) but MBL is definitely number 1 in my heart now.

Bf's order. Beautiful Mess 5.0 (Fried portabellas, sunny-side up, sharp cheddar). The one with cheese is beef patty while the one under the egg is fried portabellas. Bf almost thought it was a fried chicken patty because it is too crunchy!

Oh I love sunny-side up, just look at how sexy it is when it's dripping.

My Om-Nom-Nom man. Don't kill me if you see this.
He likes it a lot even though he's not a burger addict, superb news for me so I can go there if we visit KL again teehee.
