Valentine's Day at Miam Miam Penang Part 1

The reason why I named it part 1 is because we actually didn't finish the whole course as we were in a rush to catch the movie "That Awkward Moment" at 10:05pm. We arrived Miam Miam at 8pm and we didn't expect we would actually eat for over two hours lol cause we have no experience in celebrating Valentine's. Despite dating for over 2 and a half year, we missed celebrating V's as we were both working in the first year in different places, him in KL while me in Penang. In the second year, V's day happened to clashed with CNY where I had to head back to my hometown and that's how we missed the second V's.

Let's get back to the part where we waited 20 minutes for our desserts after our main course and it was already 9:45pm. Boyf checked with the waitress and she said we have to wait for another 20 minutes which we will obviously be late for our movie and I'll have to rush back to Gurney in my heels uglily as I'm still not used to wearing heels. Thus, boyf said he'd like to cancel the desserts, TWO desserts! And my first thought was "naaawww, there goes my desserts", but luckily, the considerate staff said we could retrieve the desserts during the next visit for free! Thumbs up for the services. So this is the LONG reason why I have to separate them into 2 parts. You can also read about my first visit HERE.

Before proceeding to our seats we were required to sit on the love chair and take picture and here's the outcome!
Me and my valentine.

Together with a handkerchief rose, the V's menu and a box of chocolates which looks like a condom box to me at first *laugh* not sure if they purposely make it this way lol.

Lemon squash for the boyf and berries smoothie for me. Boyf's drink was really sour so don't order it if you can't handle sourness. Mine was sweet and it tasted really good with strawberry and blueberries on top as if it's specially designed for girls' liking.

Mushroom soup which is not bad for me as it has tiny bits of mushrooms in it.

Wafu Salad. Those who know me will know that I really dislike eating vege. So I was like (O_O) when it was served, boyf was happily forcing me to finish all of it urgh. Luckily there was sauce underneath them so it tasted quite good to my surprise, the sauce tasted salty like the soy sauce we find in Jap restaurants. Salty and sour food always open up my appetite so I'd say good job for this one. In the end I finished everything except for the cucumbers, a big achievement for myself.

Fruit sorbet. This was the last appetizer before the main course was served. It sort of functioned to freshen my tongue and taste bud so that I can indulge more for my main course.

Boyf's Lobster Bisque Pasta with giant tiger prawn. The soup was rich in lobster taste as normally it is prepared by cooking the lobster with boiling water in order to obtain their flavour, just like how housewives usually boil soup with bones. It was creamy but not greasy! Boyf said it was good.

Pasta Pescatore with king prawns and Alaskan scallops. The portion was big and I thought I couldn't finish it but I was wrong about myself lol. It was a tomato based pasta and I usually prefer creamy type of pasta, but this tasted good actually especially the scallops as they have fully absorbed the tomato paste.

Boyf was peeling off the prawns's skin for me, such a small yet lovely gesture :) Loveyou!

Cancelled the desserts and skipped to the last course which is coffee and tea. Boyf has a high expectation for coffee and he said his coffee was good based on the beans they use I suppose. It was served together with cold milk inside this cute little milk pitcher!

Tea in a pot for me. Not a professional tea drinker so I'm not really sure what to expect. It smelled nice and the taste was quite soft, guess it was meant to be that way so I had to add a teaspoon of sugar just to make it taste stronger.

In overall, it was a really satisfying Valentine's dinner for both of us, despite the waiting time for the desserts, I'd say Miam Miam had given us a very great first experience on V's day, the services were good and I really love how they take Valentine's seriously that they gave rose, chocolates and a picture that marked this special day. I also like how the waitresses/ waiters make sure that every couple is happy, checking tables whether their food is arrived, or what to serve next. Thank you for the wonderful Valentine's dinner!

Victoria Sweet Pastry at Tanjung Tokong, Penang.

Back to work again after my CNY holidays and I spent my last day of holiday well by meeting up with my darling Khui Ching, bestie since form 3! We actually wandered around Paragon after lunch and couldn't think of any dessert place to dine in cause I've already tried the two mainstreams dessert cafes HERE. Long story short, she suggested that we go for Victoria Sweet Pastry since both of us never went there before.

It's located in one of the shoplots near Tesco Tg Tokong, pretty easy to find cause there's like only one or two shops here if not mistaken and you don't have to worry about the parking space.

You will be welcomed by a princessish, girlish, pinkish, a little bit of purplish environment.

 Dessert time!

Dar's Chocolate Coffee Macaron. The coffee taste is there but I don't really like anything in coffee flavour. I mean I love coffee but only in liquid form, coffee lover may have a try on this. I'd say the nuts are not necessary as macarons are not meant to be hard.

Mixed Berry Macaron if not mistaken, got confused cause they were first labelled as green tea flavour LOL, then a waitress said they labelled it wrongly and it should be blueberry flavour, and then another waiter said it's lavender flavour, then when the bill came, it's mixed berry flavour. Ok choose the one you prefer.

Despite the confusion, it tasted pretty good actually, I like this better than the previous one, it's not as sweet as the ones I tried last time at Valerie something (forgotten) I still remember how I got sorethroat and fever after consuming them. But, there is chocolate filling in the middle of the macaron which I didn't like it cause it tasted bitter and the macaron itself is already not so sweet.

Thank you darling for the picha!

There are some other cakes and tarts to be choose from.

Camwhored with darling. She blogged about it too and she mentioned that I'm cute teehee read about it HERE!

Blueish ootd
Looking forward to our next meetup! xx

Burps & Giggles in Ipoh, Malaysia.

As mentioned in my previous post, Baby, Kelxy and I had visited Burps & Giggles during our Ipoh Trip because baby wanted to visit it. It is considered one of the famous cafe in Ipoh with its cozy setting and deco.
It comprises the size of three shoplots but the main entrance is located in the middle.

Business hours.

The moment you stepped foot inside B&G you will be welcomed by
A wine bar.

And comfy seating suitable for large group of gathering, hangout etc which appears brighter than the other two indoor settings.

Decided to stay indoor for chiller environment.

Ordering method is troublesome enough, if you plan to write all of the menu on two signboards just make it as self service where we could just order at the cashier instead of the waitress staring at us while we turn our heads 180 degree to look through the menu lol. Or you could just print more menus.

Baby's ristretto- short shot of espresso. Didn't order any food as we had dimsum and egg custard before that.

Choco mellow, basically hot chocolate with marshmallow. I've always thought this is the perfect combination but not in here. Marshmallow is perfect, soft and sweet but the hot chocolate is almost tasteless that the Cadbury hot chocolate in my house tastes even better than this.

Maybe we should've try out their main course like burgers as it is their signature dish but we did not have the space for it. Plus I wouldn't pay RM28 for a burger even though I'm a burger freak (would rather spend it on Chili's burger). Perhaps their foods are really good based on other food reviews but their drinks definitely need LOTS of improvements.

In overall, I'd say their environment is nice but their drinks aren't, foods are a lil' overpriced for me.

Kaffa Espresso Bar, Penang.

This cafe is opened recently like a week ago! For Penangites you can find this place easily because it is located near Segi college, for those who're not from Penang you can visit their Facebook page HERE or scroll to the end for full address :) I had no idea about its existence until bf brought me here and I loveeeee its surrounding at first sight.

So bf brought me here because he's a coffee lover and since they serve good coffee here, why not?

We were greeted by friendly staff and The Beatles

Picture on wall. Their interior is a little bit dark, not suitable for study but definitely a good place to relax, if you come here in day time and don't like the darkness, you can request to sit upstairs which is open air!

As you can see it is very spacious and I bet it will be nicer at night.

They only have fans upstairs though if you cannot stand the heat (like me) I would suggest you to stay indoor :)

Okay so I forgot to take pictures of where we were seated (which is very comfy) so I'm gonna steal photo from Kaffa's Facebook page which is HERE again! Support them aight?
Photo credit: Kaffa Espresso Bar. See what I meant by comfy? Just look at their seats! You could just sit there and sip on your coffee, chit chat with your friends and family for all day long!

Another kind of setting, they have quite a number of retro or old stuff.

My bf can really take good photos but too bad I'm not photogenic :(

They serve not only coffee but even heavy food and breakfast!
They open at 8am and it's convenient for the students nearby. You can even have lunch or dinner here!

Photo credit: Joshua. I think he's the tauke (boss) but he referred himself as "little man with coffee machine" lol. We ordered Piccolo latte, hot chocolate and peanut crepe cake and we requested for 3D foam art haha.

3D in the making by little man with coffee machine.

The outcome, the back of a panda. It's not the nicest of course but it's still fun watching him putting his effort trying to satisfy our request, thanks a lot! Bf likes the taste as it is not too strong, suitable for chillax purpose unlike those strong coffee he needs for assignments. Again photo credit goes to Joshua.

Photo credit: Joshua. My hot chocolate with cute little doggie paws awwww it reminds me of my little daodao at home. It's not too sweet and the chocolate taste is not strong enough, but no worries people my bf has already feedback to them and I believe they will improve the recipe by then :)

Photos credit: Joshua.
Peanut crepe cake. I did not eat much because I don't really like peanut or anything with peanut in it, except for Nips I suppose (and how dare my bf forget about it!) It tastes ok for me, luckily the peanut taste is not too strong and I can still try to cope with it.

In overall both of us liked the surrounding very much, the music is relaxing, staffs are friendly and really really like its comfy seats :D Do pay them a visit aight?

Moustache Houze, Penang

Finally I'm fully recover from gastric and dreadful vomit routine and baby was really good for bringing me to Fruuze as I complained to him when I was sick hehe. Baby even brought me to this newly opened cafe, Moustache Houze without me asking hehe, he just saw me liking its Facebook page HERE and here we are yeehaa!

Moustache Houze is located at Campbell Street (full address at the end of post) and based on the shop's name, obviously it has something to do with moustache, the whole cafe is moustache-themed so you're able to see a lot of moustache in every corner of the shop, even their cups! It sells only light things such as cakes, crepes, tea, juice, coffee and special ice cubes.
The cafe is not too hard to find as the signboard is noticeable on the road.

The place is comfortable with air-con, suitable for backpackers as they have hostels upstairs too!

Books and magazines are provided to kill time, they have Wi-Fi service as well! :)

Moustache tree, feel free to count the number of moustaches in there.

Menu

Their furniture all look very comfy and nice, loving their displays and the cozy surrounding.
Please note that the seats above cannot be swing thou, was hoping they could :(

The boy who brought me here *hugs and kisses*

We ordered their special ice cubes because we already had our lunch previously, special ice cubes are similar to normal ice cubes but instead of freezing water, they freeze strawberries, kiwis, espresso, chocolate and something-I-forgot
I ordered strawberries cubes and bf ordered espresso cubes.

All the frozen fruit is served with soda (something like 7Up)

While the espresso and chocolate are served with cold milk,
course you don't want them with 7Up do you?

To consume, just pour the milk or soda into the ice cubes and wait for them to melt
If you wanna melt them in your mouth well.... lol

Personally I like my bf's choice more which is the espresso cubes because the taste is stronger and it's fun watching the milk changed from white to brown slowly. For the strawberries, it's quite hard for me to 'catch' the taste of strawberries because the soda is quite sweet itself, maybe they should add more of the cubes or replace with fruit that is stronger in flavour like orange, dragonfruit, durian, ok cut the durian. But for non-coffee lover, you can still have a try on the fruit or chocolate cubes or some other drinks from the menu.

My boy was making himself at home lol.
Thanks to my boy once again for bringing me here!

Us with moustache :D Thank you MH for the photo!

In overall the cafe was good, clean air and clean environment, nice-looking cakes, creative drinks, suitable place for afternoon break or gathering with friends/family, but remember to fill your tummy up first because they do not serve any main course or heavy food :)
