Caffeine Chemistry Coffee @ Chime Heritage, Penang.

Hello readers! So after weeks of relaxation (slacking), I've recently started working as a freelance video editor at Colomono, finally applying what I've studied in college to work ohyeahhhh. Before I started working, I managed to try out Caffeine Chemistry Coffee with one of my friends, Virginia before she went back to Ipoh and thanks to her for the introduction :)

The number of seats is limited downstairs so you might want to head upstairs, outdoor seatings are available as well.

A very simple yet comfy environment.

Menu (without additional charges).

The food is quite limited when we visited, there were only cakes, sandwiches, a breakfast set and salads (new menu has been added currently). So we ordered their only two types of sandwiches:

My Cajun Chicken sandwich, mad love for their mashed potatoes! It wasn't seasoned heavily so the taste wasn't as tasty as KFC's but I supposed it was healthier this way, not to mention they were really soft and warm when served! As for the sandwich itself, I like how they provide the meat generously, I'd say the taste can still be improved, the cashier said it's a spicy type but the taste was kinda bland for me, and the bread used (ciabatta) was rather hard for us to cut or even chew, maybe the bread is made that way but I'd personally prefer croissant or other breads that are softer, that'd make the eating easier.

Virginia's Pesto Chicken- If compared to my cajun chicken, I'd say the pesto chicken has stronger flavor of spices and more appealing in my opinion. She had the same likes and dislikes as I do, we both like the mashed potatoes but not so much on the bread, overall it's still good as the price is as affordable as RM12 nett! That's all for now, till then, see ya!

Monkeycup @ Chow Thye Road, Penang.

Finally a date out with my darling ever since my semester break started! It was a last minute change of plan as we actually planned to meet on the past Saturday but darling decided to bring it forward, couldn't wait to see me eh? :3 And of course there wasn't any plan of where to go or what to eat since it was so sudden, thus I did some googling and off we went to Monkeycup. Monkeycup specializes in Thai food unlike most cafes that sell mainly Western and Italian, the only two non-Thai options are croissant and Angelababie (creamy pasta), dessert like cakes and creme brulee are available as well.

Outdoor and indoor seating.

Being a creamy food lovers, darlingandI decided to try out their Angelababie! We have also ordered their creme brulee which was so affordable!
In love with their creme brulee! The sweet caramel layer was really thick and wasn't over burnt, when combined with the brulee, just mmmmmm, the brulee itself was really smooth, I could have it all to myself!

Angelababie! Despite their main focus is on Thai food, but it didn't fail to satisfy me, the cream sauce is of course, creamy (what did I just say) yet not to the point that it was greasy, everything worked perfectly well with the sauce, wouldn't share it with my darling if I knew it was this good teehehe hadn't had enough!
Girls may consider ordering this because when it was served, the waiter would of course "intro" the dish by saying Angelababie, indirectly calling you Angelababy *laugh* OK I'm so lameee.
To sum it up, Monkeycup serves quality food with affordable pricing, will definitely come back for more!

My ootd.

The Safe Room @ Campbell Street, Penang.

It's dessert time! So after dinner session with Colomono Flowers which I've mentioned in my prev post, it was roughly 10pm and we figured it was still early for us to go back home, so off we went to The Safe Room located near Moustache Houze. It's not just-another-cafe kind of cafe as it's famous for its nitrogen coconut ice cream which will be introduced in a bit, also their ice cream are all made from fresh fruit! Non-fruit flavours are available as well such as mocha and oreo.

The cafe is easily noticeable by the S lock signboard glowing at night.

And the cafe was sooo crowded and we had to wait for like 20 mins to get our table, but good things are worth the wait eh? Was kinda glad that other customers were waiting patiently as well and no one cut queue! So after we got our table we made our order at the cashier.

Our order:

Butterscotch latte with a rather phailed chocolate syrup art but it's ok look doesn't matter, the taste was still ok tho.

Rose Cheese Cake which all of us loved at first bite! It was rather smooth and soft like we were eating whipped cream in solid form, each bite was filled with strong flavour of rose and the best part is that it was not greasy at all, we were basically complimenting non stop for like five minutes.

Behold the famous nitrogen coconut ice cream! Didn't expect that I could try it out since it's one of their signatures and it's selling fast, almost every table has it, lucky lucky us. Was kinda sad tho because the nitrogen gas only stays for awhile after it was served, unlike their Dragon breath (popcorn with nitrogen gas) that allows you to breath the gas out (like shisha lol. no I've not shisha before). Still, the coconut ice cream itself is so freakin good! It tasted like shaved ice with a very strong coconut taste and it's very cooling, just right for Penang's hot weather.

After dessert and some talking, it's picture time!
One of the many failed photos we took hehe.

That's all for now, see ya!

Route 9 @ Bishop Street, Penang.

Hello everybodeh! Just ended my finals few days back and I'm officially done with my diploma course! Fingers crossed for my cgpa and can't wait for my convo which will probably be held in October, so excited to wear the graduation robe! Should probably get a job soon but that can wait for awhile, relaxation is all I need at this moment. Well, food is one of many ways to get myself relaxed, so recently Angela, Kerli and I (Colomono flowers) have paid a visit to a new restaurant, Route 9 located right beside Goh Kaki. It will be officially launched in August but they're already open for test run purpose.

We sat far away from the entrance and not long after it was already crowded with people!
They have a wide range of menu from chicken, fish, spaghetti, lamb and beef! And they're all very affordable without additional charges, and of course what caught my attention is their portion, so in love with their portion!

Besides, there are two types of set to be choose from:
RM2 set: peach tea/ lemon tea + dessert (ice cream)
RM6 set: mushroom soup + peach tea/ lemon tea + dessert (ice cream) and we all went for the RM2 set.

Kerli's Route 9 Chicken Chop. I like how they separate the gravy and the chicken so that the chicken that's supposed to be crunchy wouldn't get soggy. And unlike other restaurants that use mushroom sauce or brown sauce, here it tasted more like a curry based gravy which was appetizing (Angela abandoned her cheesy sauce for this).

Angela's Chicken with Cheesy Sauce, also comes with butter rice. The cheesy sauce tasted absolutely delicious! Tho I'm not a fan of chicken breast but it mixed really well with the sauce, thumbs up for it I couldn't stop mixing it with my mashed potatoes. And I had the most of it since Angela prefer another sauce.

My Milky Oat Chicken. It's basically deep fried chicken drizzled with milky sauce and honey, so the whole thing was crispy and sweet! I love sweet stuff like a lot so it tasted like the chicken version of roti bom/ roti susu to me, recommended to those who're into sweet stuff!

We got a complimentary Chicken Skewer from the boss! Not sure why but thank you! The meat is tender and very soft to be chewed. Still, I think they can improve on the taste cause it tasted like satay to me. One more thing to be improved on is their dessert as they only have ice cream for now, hoping they can add more dessert choice onto the menu. Other than that, the overall is still good, the cleanliness, display, taste are up to standard.

WIll be blogging about the famous Nitrogen Coconut ice cream from The Safe Room on my next post, stay tuned!

Santorini Cafe at Burma Road, Penang.

Holla I'm back! Just realized my last post was on 31st of May lol so now I'm going to blog about a waaaaaay overdue post before my blog turns dusty. Note that the "waaaaaay" is VERY long because it took place around... more than 1 month ago (nearly 2)! With study as my priority there just wasn't enough time for me to actually chill in front of my laptop blogging when there were tons of assignments to be finished, WERE. Now that I've handed in my last assignment which required APA citation blabla, there's finally time!

So today I'll be introducing Santorini Cafe located in Burma Road (somewhere around New World Park) which I visited with Angela and Ker Li. They serve a wide range of food with affordable prices from Western, Chinese, Italian and also desserts and soups! The choices are so many that you'd struggle not knowing what to choose. Also, the portion is really BIG. Despite the MANY MANY choices that I've mentioned, we didn't manage to take a peek of the menu as we were given the dinner set menu (not sure why) with much lesser choice to choose from.

The parking space is limited tho only 4-6 spaces available outside the shop. Still, you can choose to park in New World Park or Chew Tian Yang carpark where they will refund RM1 for you.

Mushroom soup as starter. Not bad but not very impressive as well, just how an average mushroom soup tastes like.

Oat Chicken Chop for me. Look how huge the chicken is! Love at first sight at the portion, so big that I had to give some to my friends. The side salad and sauce are pretty average, chicken is absolutely crunchy and tender! You can also order Oat Fish Chop if you don't fancy chicken, which Ker Li said it's quite good.

Angela's Chicken Foot Long Sausages. She, being a big eater also compliments on the portion. She was quite full afterwards which is so rare that it shocked me hahaha

Vanilla ice cream for dessert, the only food that was served in a really, really small portion. It would be better if the scoop is bigger.

One of the many selfies that we took after meal.

It was a wonderful time spent with them, with great portion of food and affordable prices. Do pay a visit if you crave for big food and low price!

Till then, tata

My Internship Experience @ Colomono Studio

Hello readers! I'm currently having my last weekend of my mid sem break right now, so today I'll be sharing about my internship experience at Colomono Penang that I was supposed to blog about it waaaaaay earlier as I finished it on 1st of April, somehow it was postponed for N times due to the workloads and it's rather difficult comparing to food post because I had no idea how to start, like there are so many stuff to talk about, so many fun happenings in 3 months! Tbh I've never thought I could really enjoy working this much that I actually can't wait to go to work every day! Continue your read and you'll know why :)
A humble looking exterior at first sight and my first thought was "o..k....", tbh I was very envious of my friends who get to go KL for their internship while there were very few Broadcasting students who stayed in Penang. But, of course after working for three months, I couldn't be more glad to intern here.

So I'm gonna first introduce what excites me the most when I first started to work here.
Dolly! A golden retriever that doesn't retrieve gold lol
Cassie, a very fierce dog at first that finally allowed me to touch her after a couple of weeks! So basically the first thing I do when I stepped foot in the studio is to rush to the kitchen, just to see them waving their tails at me :3 I'm so sorry to my colleagues back then because what excites me happened to be the two dogs behind the studio instead of you guys haha, we weren't as close as we are now teehee.

My job during my internship was basically edit long version wedding and come out with a corporate video with my two other intern friends. I've edited two long version weddings, one Chinese and one Hindu. Somehow we always work beyond the job scope which was kinda fun, such as painting the office walls, feeding the dogs, do some light housekeeping, shopped for groceries for the company, ok I kinda miss that life right now.
We shopped for our company steamboat and that's when I found out there were some really funny guys at work. On the steamboat day itself, we did lots of preparation work like cleaning the ingredients while the guys prepared the gas, chairs outside. The bottom right photo was taken when the colleagues were shooting for a video competition which they got the 3rd prize! After the steamboat session, we went for a movie night watching "Her".

This was taken after the movie, good old time :)

Remember when I said the colleagues won the 3rd prize in a video competition? It turned out that everyone in the Colomono family was treated at House of Steamboat! Throughout my internship period I already had like three or four times of steamboat, so my friends at college actually said I gained weight after 3 months.

Also, not to forget all the treats from bosses and colleagues! The first row was where we had our lunch at Morganfield's. Next, we had yee sang in the studio and celebrated one of the bosses' birthday. Moving on to the drinks from Tong Pak Fu after some light housekeeping. Last but not least, the Tau Fu Fa which boss always buys for us on a regular basis, but that's not all! There were also spring rolls, subway cookies, bubur chacha, herbal tea, ice cream, appom and lots more! Also, for our farewell lunch, boss treated us lunch at KOI Japanese Restaurant which I blogged about it HERE. Well that explained how I gained weight. Fat but happy tummy back then :)

A huge part of my internship was made up of food, food, more food with the combination of fun and laughters. Besides, I'm really thankful for all the teachings and guidance from the Colomonians, especially for the corporate video, it wouldn't be possible without all the helping hands. Whatever problems or questions we faced throughout the internship period, all of you managed to help us out even tho you had some other tasks going on, we really couldn't thank you more :)

Finally, all the interns were presented a clapper board with our own names on it! Was happy and down at the same time when I held it in my hands as it indicates that my internship was coming to an end.

One last group photo before I end this post
Missing J boss, Five, Abel, Angela was behind the phone. I'll give them a short intro each, so you may skip this part if you want. The one in stripes shirt is Tyger, subway cookies supplier and also good in editing stuff, always run to him when there's trouble, TY hoho. The guy in pink, Yang Kwang, talented in chair-falling, just cause he can fall off from his chair just by stretching. Boss W is behind me, tau fu fa supplier, thanks for the lessons you taught! The only girl beside me, Ker Li, hope you succeed in dieting la ok? Don't just teach us to do online shopping ok? The one and only guy without body, Joseph, you laugh in a really funny way with all your funny conversation haha. The guy in black, Forrest aka Bangala, stay dark so we can always make fun of you! Btw really thanks for helping me as well. The guy in cap, Sunzane, another funneh guy who taught us how to use a slider, ty for everything else in case I forgot. The one on the far right, CY, fierce, fierce, still fierce, smile and don't frighten new interns awaaaaay (god bless for writing this)

Phew that was a long one, in overall, it was an enjoyable three months with all of you peepo.
Colomonian rocks, and will continue rocking!

Ben's Gurney Paragon, Penang

Happy Mothers' Day to all mommas around the world! Thank you for the 3728472 level of pain you suffered in labour, and taking care of your babies 24/7, 365 days a year with no annual leave, public holiday etc etc. To all the moms, you're free from housework today and you may continue with it tomorrow LOL jk. So, bf decided to be a good boy (heh) and treated his mom to lunch at Ben's Gurney Paragon last weekend to celebrate M's Day in advanced, I happened to hung out with them so I got to enjoy his treat as well teehee. I believe 99% of Penangites already know about this place so I'll just skip right to the main point aight? (and mainly because I didn't take much photos) :(

It's located beside Miam Miam which I blogged about it HERE, HERE and HERE (yep that's three visits).
I was first quite surprised by the menu as I thought it would be very very very pricey based on the environment, turned out it was quite affordable.
Photo source: Ben's official website. Click for larger view or download the pdf file HERE

So we ordered:
Spaghettini Carbonara which I loveeeeeee it A LOT, it tasted even better than Itali*nnies even though the amount of sauce was quite little, bf and aunty had a few bites and I finished the rest until the very last drop of sauce, it was too good to resist! One little thing that I hope can be improved is the amount of bacons! It was too little for me :( The rest was really great tho!

Aunty ordered Char-Grilled Seafood Spaghettini with chilli flakes and wilted spinach. It was an appetizing dish that tasted sour and spicy at the same time, the seafood were all very fresh, squids were cooked to a perfect timing where they didn't taste like rubber band lol, in fact they can be chew off easily! It wasn't very spicy, thus it can be accepted by most of the people.

Berrific Sundae with fresh mixed berries, ice cream and chocolate sauce. The portion is suitable for 2 pax sharing but it tasted normal to me as it can be prepared at home without needing any complicated steps. At first we thought there were only strawberries cause other berries were no where to be found lol, turned out there was a small amount of blueberries and raspberries underneath the ice cream. I'd recommend you to try out other more unique or hard-to-make desserts.

In overall, I'm very fond of the pastas and guess I'll bring my mom here to celebrate her belated M's day as she isn't in Penang right now, I'm sure she will love it as much as I do! The staffs were very attentive in making sure there wasn't any empty cup of skyjuice, most of the desserts on the menu are very tempting as well, hoping I can give some of them a try!

That's all for now, chao.
