大碗公 Tua Wa Kong, Penang.

Any hokkien mee / prawn mee lover out there? I myself is a great fan of hokkien mee and I used to eat hokkien mee for almost every day when I was in high school! So a couple of months ago there's this shop named Tua Wa Kong which sells rice and not to forget HOKKIEN MEE! At first I was like "it's just another hokkien mee seller la.." but I decided to try it out myself after I've read through the positive comments from other blogs.

It's not merely a stall in a hawker centre but a shop! If you would like to enjoy your bowl of hokkien mee in a clean and air-conditioned environment then this is the place!
(scroll to the end for full address)

They open every day from 11am.-11pm except on Tuesday.

The order is taken at the counter as they do not have menu on every tables.
The menu can be easily understood even by first timer.

They even have dried hokkien mee! And a variety of eggs to choose from, this is a good news for me because I do not fancy hard boiled egg yolk, for people who are similar to me you can choose to have boiled egg or spring egg.

You can even choose the types of noodles too, which is also a good news for picky people (like me).

After you have placed your order, just wait for the red doughnut to vibrate.
Interesting password ey?

Took some time walking around and taking pictures of the interior before the food is ready.

A lot of people from different countries have left notes on the walls, is the food really that nice?!
Lets find out.

Before that, let me introduce the two types of chilli paste, MILD and VERY HOT & SPICY.
Obviously the spiciness are different for people to choose from.
For my mom and I, we choose the VERY SPICY one (because we want to be very hot).

I ordered soup hokkien mee with pork, vermicelli (bihun), and boiled egg! RM8.50
Look how gorgeous my egg yolk is! The price is higher than hawker stalls but the portion is BIG as well! I feel so bloated when I finished it. The chilli paste is quite spicy for me but not so spicy for my mom.
(she added 3 spoonful lol)

Bf's order. Dried hokkien mee with pork, yellow noodle, and spring egg. RM8.50
Spring egg is like those you found in most Japanese ramen. I took a slurp at it and it was okay for me. Bf thinks it was oily and the portion is also very big for him as he struggled to finish it.

In overall all of us prefer soup hokkien noodle and mom thinks the price is reasonable due to its portion and environment, Wi-Fi is provided as well! Mom says she will revisit them again and so do I! For non-noodle lover they sell rice too so do check them out ey!

Moustache Houze, Penang

Finally I'm fully recover from gastric and dreadful vomit routine and baby was really good for bringing me to Fruuze as I complained to him when I was sick hehe. Baby even brought me to this newly opened cafe, Moustache Houze without me asking hehe, he just saw me liking its Facebook page HERE and here we are yeehaa!

Moustache Houze is located at Campbell Street (full address at the end of post) and based on the shop's name, obviously it has something to do with moustache, the whole cafe is moustache-themed so you're able to see a lot of moustache in every corner of the shop, even their cups! It sells only light things such as cakes, crepes, tea, juice, coffee and special ice cubes.
The cafe is not too hard to find as the signboard is noticeable on the road.

The place is comfortable with air-con, suitable for backpackers as they have hostels upstairs too!

Books and magazines are provided to kill time, they have Wi-Fi service as well! :)

Moustache tree, feel free to count the number of moustaches in there.

Menu

Their furniture all look very comfy and nice, loving their displays and the cozy surrounding.
Please note that the seats above cannot be swing thou, was hoping they could :(

The boy who brought me here *hugs and kisses*

We ordered their special ice cubes because we already had our lunch previously, special ice cubes are similar to normal ice cubes but instead of freezing water, they freeze strawberries, kiwis, espresso, chocolate and something-I-forgot
I ordered strawberries cubes and bf ordered espresso cubes.

All the frozen fruit is served with soda (something like 7Up)

While the espresso and chocolate are served with cold milk,
course you don't want them with 7Up do you?

To consume, just pour the milk or soda into the ice cubes and wait for them to melt
If you wanna melt them in your mouth well.... lol

Personally I like my bf's choice more which is the espresso cubes because the taste is stronger and it's fun watching the milk changed from white to brown slowly. For the strawberries, it's quite hard for me to 'catch' the taste of strawberries because the soda is quite sweet itself, maybe they should add more of the cubes or replace with fruit that is stronger in flavour like orange, dragonfruit, durian, ok cut the durian. But for non-coffee lover, you can still have a try on the fruit or chocolate cubes or some other drinks from the menu.

My boy was making himself at home lol.
Thanks to my boy once again for bringing me here!

Us with moustache :D Thank you MH for the photo!

In overall the cafe was good, clean air and clean environment, nice-looking cakes, creative drinks, suitable place for afternoon break or gathering with friends/family, but remember to fill your tummy up first because they do not serve any main course or heavy food :)

Yellow House in Relau, Penang.

This is my first time visiting this cafe and I didn't even know its existence until my mom told me. It is located in Relau area among a lot of shoplots and you hardly notice about it because it is located in the second floor.
(you can find the full address at the end of this post)
See what I mean?

Luckily they use this cardboard to attract people, or else it can be really hard to be found.

:(
What I saw while climbing up the stairs.
The moment you step foot in it, it will be totally different from the outside, it's small but the environment is great, it's quiet and smoke-free, it serves a variety of light things such as cakes, sandwiches, toast, and some main course like spaghetti and rice with affordable prices!

The design and display inside:
Inspirational quotes on the wall.

LOTS of photographs on the wall

A small corner to enjoy yourself without any noises from the traffic outside.

It is a suitable place for kids too! They can enjoy reading comics and trying out the juice/ cakes :)

The counter

The bar

Okay I seriously don't know how to elaborate more on the displays, but seriously it is a great place to chill and a great choice for people who enjoy quiet surrounding! It provides free wi-fi and power sockets so students and workers can actually do their assignments or work here as well! It is much quieter than Starbucks and their wi-fi speed is fast. For coffee lover, you can come here and try out their coffee (which some I do not even hear before).

 MENU
According to the owner, those under the "single origin" category are beans from different countries and as you can see there are different types of serving method, and I understand none of them lol.

And finally it has come to the food section.
Caffe Mocha. I like it because it smells really nice and it was not too sweet for me, and the owner obviously knows how to make a nice cup of coffee, look at the art! For people who do not like coffee, they have chocolate drink and fruit juice as well.

French fries. The sauce is not the ordinary ketchup, it's their home made sauce I suppose. My mom loves the sauce and she couldn't stop dipping it. It tastes like ketchup and you can actually taste some tiny pieces of tomatoes and some other ingredients in it.

Rice set. The chicken and sauce have a little bit of spicy flavouring and I like it, but I hope they can come out with more western main course :)

Mini pizza with curry chicken toppings. It is actually made from healthy wholemeal bread from the famous Rainforest Bakery with cheese, chicken and other ingredient which cut into cube. My mom actually requested them to change the toppings from tuna to chicken as my mom doesn't like fish, so if you have any problem with the ingredients used, you can try to negotiate with them and they will prepare it the way you like. SO NICE RIGHT?!

In overall the food and drink were good and the prices are cheap without any government tax and service charge, the first impression was good so there's no reason that will stop me from visiting them again!
